I have been doing some extreme driving lately and have been able to
exceed the 99.9 Average displayed on the MFD over a 100 mile
stretch. I would like to further refine my technique but I no longer
have the average MPG feedback to rely on. The only way I know to
determine MPG over 100 is to drive for a whole tank. 1200 miles is a
long to go to get feedback on how a change in driving style effects
fuel economy. I have used another technique which is much more prone
to error. After driving a round trip course where can achieve over
100 MPG, I pull onto the highway and accellerate such that I maintain
40 MPG instantaneous. I record the distance it takes for the average
to get down to 98.8 and then assume 40 MPG for that distance. Using
that method I have calculated 104.7 MPG. I don't really trust that
method so I am trying to find another.

Questo qui si lamenta che è riuscito a fare oltre le 99,9 miglia al gallone per più di 160 Km (42,3 km/l o 2,36 l*100 Km) e si lamenta che non riesce a sapere il consumo giusto... e non vuole farsi 2000 Km per capire la media che fa.

e io povero mortale che mi lamento dei consumi della celica o della subaru quando me la faccio prestare!
 
Questo mail (che io ho copiato qui il giorno che l'ho ricevuta) ha creato tanto rumore e ammirazione, come al solito, c'è chi dice "ma chi vuoi prendere in giro? Anche noi abbiamo la Prius ed è difficile andare oltre i 20 km/l" e, dal giappone, uno che dice "qui il record personale della media col pieno è di 48 km/l".

Cmq il tizio ha spiegato il suo metodo: Trovare una strada lunga, con alti-bassi (senza esagerare) priva di ostacoli in una giornata calda.
Portare la macchina normalmente a 64 km/h (40 miglia) [43 miglia è da evitare come la peste]
Scivolare (*) dolcemente a 50 km/h
Riprendere a 64 km/h
Ripetere fino alla nausea.

(*) Scivolare (to glide) termine usato dai Priussisti per indicare lo stato visibile sul MFD dove non ci sono freccie di trasferimento d'energia. La macchina è in uno stato di folle virtuale (a motore spento). Per ottenerlo occorre una strada piana o leggerissima discesa, e occorre appoggiare il piede sull'acceleratore in modo che tutte le freccie spariscano. Lo chiamano anche "sweet spot" sinonimo di Punto-G.

Sto tizio, a parte aver fatto fuori due pieni così per sperimentare nuove tecniche di consumo, si è fatto un viaggio per lavoro di 1500 Km - usando questo sistema - con un pieno di 40 litri. (1500/((64+50)/2)= 57 ore di viaggio!

Non è una questione legale, ma una questione fisica legata alla macchina.

a 70 Km/h in su la macchina non può andare in puro elettrico; il motore termico DEVE girare altrimenti il generatore va fuorigiri.
